IRAN SETS NEW CONDITIONS FOR REOPENING THE STRAIT OF HORMUZ

Iran says the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed until the United States fulfills all seven conditions outlined under the June Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

These are the seven conditions published

1. Lift the U.S. maritime blockade imposed on Iran.

2. Return Iran’s frozen assets.

3. Lift sanctions on Iranian oil exports.

4. Completely halt U.S. actions described by Iran as threats and military operations.

5. End the war and military aggression against Iran and its regional allies.

6. Withdraw U.S. military forces from areas surrounding Iran’s borders.

7. Compensate Iran for the damage caused and commit to not interfering with Iran’s nuclear and missile capabilities.

Iran maintains that the seven conditions must be implemented before normal maritime passage can resume, while Washington and Tehran remain divided over the terms and implementation of the agreement.

The Strait of Hormuz carries a significant share of global oil and LNG shipments, meaning any prolonged disruption could continue to affect energy markets, shipping and fuel prices worldwide.

The question now is: Will Washington accept Tehran’s conditions, or will the standoff over Hormuz continue?
