Don’t start building any Refinery in our country because I’ll send you Back to Nigeria when I win — Kenyan Presidential Candidate warns Dangote
A Kenyan presidential candidate, Patrick Osoi has sent a bold message to Nigerian billionaire Aliko Dangote, urging him to reconsider plans to continue operating his refinery business in Nigeria.
In a campaign speech,Osoi claimed that by February next year, when he expects to be sworn in as Kenya’s president, Dangote would have little reason to remain in Nigeria because his administration would establish a refinery capable of meeting the country’s needs.
Addressing the businessman directly, he said, “I want to tell Dangote, please don’t hurry up to start the refinery because by next year February, the time I’m sworn in as the president of this country, you’ll be back going to Nigeria.”
He went on to declare that Kenya already has existing refinery capacity that could handle the task, while also insisting that local entrepreneurs have the ability to develop and operate such facilities.
“We have refinery which can do that job. We also have business people in this country who can do that job,” he stated.
The candidate said empowering Kenyan businesses and building local industrial capacity would form part of his administration’s agenda, describing the country as the base of his political movement.
“That is what we stand for. And this is the home of our movement,” he added.
