GLOBAL ALERT: HACKERS EXPLOIT WORDPRESS FLAW AND COULD TAKE CONTROL OF SERVERS

A new cyber threat is putting pressure on millions of websites that use WordPress, a platform used by approximately 39.5% of internet sites. Cybercriminals are already exploiting a critical vulnerability during the system update process, according to the U.S. agency CISA.

The flaw allows attackers without a user account to execute code on vulnerable servers by exploiting a brief window that opens while updates are being installed. If they manage to exploit it, they could gain access to systems, modify pages, install malicious tools, or compromise stored information.

The vulnerability was identified as CVE-2026-119977 and affects versions earlier than the security patches released by WordPress. Version 7.1.4 includes the fix, so administrators must update their sites and check that they have not been compromised. This does not mean that all sites using WordPress are infected, but it does mean there is an active threat to vulnerable installations.
