Views don't pay. Monetized views + RPM pay.
Let me add more depth to each point so your followers can actually act on it:
1. Monetized views vs Total views
Facebook only counts a view as monetized when an ad can actually be placed and viewed on it. If someone watches for 2 seconds and scrolls, or watches without ads available in their region, that's a view but not a monetized view. That's why 100k views can mean 15k monetized views for one person and 60k for another.
2. Audience location is the biggest lever
This is why two creators with the same niche earn differently. Advertisers bid more in Tier 1 countries.
High CPM markets: USA, UK, Canada, Australia, Germany
Lower CPM markets: Most of Africa, South Asia, parts of Southeast Asia
A Nigerian creator with 80% US audience will almost always earn more than one with 80% Nigerian audience, even with fewer total views. If you are in Abuja, your goal should be to make content that also retains diaspora and international viewers.
3. Content type / Monetization product
Not all formats pay the same:
In-stream ads (long videos): Usually highest RPM, needs 1-min+ watch time
Ads on Reels: RPM is lower but volume is huge, depends heavily on performance bonus eligibility
Stars, Subscriptions, Performance Bonus: Not ad-dependent, they depend on fan support and consistency
4. Watch time & engagement
Facebook pushes what keeps people on the platform. Two signals matter most:
Average watch time: Are people watching 40% or 90% of your video?
Meaningful engagement: Comments, shares, and saves are worth more than just likes. A video with 500 shares will get pushed to more monetizable inventory.
5. Advertiser demand (Seasonality)
Your RPM in December can be 2x your RPM in January. Advertisers spend more during Q4, Black Friday, Christmas, and less in Q1. Same content, different month, different pay.
6. Originality & policy compliance
This is where many creators lose everything. Unoriginal, looped, re-uploaded, or AI slideshow content with no added value can get flagged for Limited Originality of Content. One violation can demonetize your whole page for months.
How to actually increase your earnings
Instead of chasing views, chase this checklist:
Before posting: Is this 100% original? Does it have a hook in the first 3 seconds?
During posting: Are you posting when your highest-paying audience is online? Check Insights > Audience.
After posting: Check not just Views, but Monetized Views and RPM in Creator Studio. If RPM is below $0.30, your audience location or retention needs work.
If you want, I can help you turn this into a carousel post, a script for a 60-second Reel, and a caption with hashtags that will reach other creators searching for monetization tips.
What format do you want to post this in next?
